Highlights of My Trip to Paris
1st - La Boulangerie Mediterranenne
It’s a neighborhood spot with a local and very charming vibe. I discovered this place by chance while staying in a hotel nearby. The pastries there were fresh and delicious. They also had a few savory options for breakfast and great coffee. The place has a relaxed local vibe that feels authentic. Also, the service was kind and polite.
2nd - Louvre
I had been biased against the Louvre, thinking it was just an overly iconic, tourist-filled museum. But it truly is an incredible place. I was deeply moved by several of the artworks - some even brought tears to my eyes.
3rd - Tuileries Garden
Right outside the Louvre, this classic French garden is the perfect place to recharge after a long walk through the museum. You’ll find wide gravel paths, statues, fountains, and lots of green space. Grab a chair by the pond, enjoy the view, and give your legs a well-deserved break. It’s also a great in-between stop before heading to your next destination.
4th - 2nd Arrondissement
The 2nd arrondissement is like Paris’s cool little secret - central, walkable, and full of character, but without the overwhelming crowds. It’s known for its charming passages which are lined with boutique shops, bookstores, and cafés. The area blends old-world charm with modern touches. It’s a great neighborhood to explore without an agenda. Just walk and let yourslef stumble upon something cool.
5th - Boullion Julien
Dining at Bouillon Julien is like stepping back in time. But it’s not just about looks. The food is comforting and affordable, with classic French dishes. The atmosphere is lively, with locals enjoying a proper sit-down meal without breaking the bank. It’s perfect if you want that quintessential Parisian dining experience.
6th - Notre Dame
Just like with the Louvre Museum, I had been prejudiced against Notre-Dame Cathedral. But once again, I was mistaken. As soon as I stepped inside, I lost track of time and became completely immersed in this place. For me - it wasn't just a casual visit to a landmark, but rather it was a deeply spiritual experience that eventually contributed to a profound shift in my beliefs and faith.
7th - Paul & Julienne
This restaurant has a warm, romantic, and inviting ambiance, making it ideal for both intimate dinners and friendly gatherings. The décor and the food reflect authentic French style, contributing to its genuine and comfortable setting. All these factors make you feel like you are visiting your French aunt for dinner.
8th - Geleries Lafayette
Galeries Lafayette isn’t just a department store - it’s an experience, even if you’re not there to shop. The centerpiece is the gorgeous stained-glass dome, filling the space with colorful light.
And don’t miss the rooftop terrace - it’s free to access and gives you one of the best panoramic views of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower.
