A Full Day in Athens - Video Recommendations. Part 1.
1st stop - Kolonaki.
Kolonaki is where old-world elegance meets modern cosmopolitan life - it’s stylish, sophisticated, and always buzzing with energy. It is one of the most upscale and stylish neighborhoods in Athens. It’s known for its chic boutiques, fancy cafés, and trendy restaurants.
Kolonaki is close to Lycabettus Hill, so you can take a short hike up for some of the best panoramic views of Athens. Despite its polished reputation, the neighborhood still has that classic Athenian charm, with small art galleries, bookshops, and hidden tavernas tucked between the luxury stores.
2nd stop - Queen Bee.
Queen Bee is an all-day café and bakery, known for its high-quality pastries, great coffee, and a cool vibe.
3rd Stop - Prasini Tenta
Prasini Tenta is a café-restaurant nestled on Lycabettus Hill, just above Kolonaki, offering stunning views of Athens. It’s a go-to spot for a relaxed coffee or a sunset drink with a breathtaking cityscape in the background. The atmosphere is laid-back and unpretentious, making it a favorite among locals and visitors who want to enjoy some peace away from the city’s hustle.

4th Stop - Oggi - Officina Gelato Gusto Italiano
This place is known for its authentic Italian-style gelato made with high-quality, natural ingredients. The flavors are rich, creamy, and always fresh, with both classic and more unique seasonal creations.
5th Stop - Ermou Street
Ermou Street is Athens' main shopping street, stretching from Syntagma Square to Monastiraki. It's always buzzing with people, street performers, souvenir shops, and cafés along the way. It’s a great spot for shopping, people-watching, or just strolling through the city center.
6th Stop - Monastiraki
Monastiraki is known for its lively flea market, street food, and mix of ancient ruins and modern city life. The main square is always buzzing. You’ll find everything from antiques and souvenirs to vintage clothes and handmade jewelry in the market. It’s also a great place to grab souvlaki or enjoy a rooftop drink with a view.
7th Stop - Areopagus Hill
It is a rocky outcrop near the Acropolis with stunning panoramic views of Athens. It’s a historic spot where ancient court cases were held, and according to tradition, Saint Paul preached there. Today, it’s a popular place for visitors to relax, take in the view, and watch the sunset over the city. Be careful - the climb up is short but can be a bit slippery.
9th Stop - Thiseio
Thiseio is a charming and laid-back neighborhood known for its scenic pedestrian streets and amazing views of the Acropolis. It’s a great place for a relaxed stroll where street musicians create a lively but easygoing vibe. The area is home to the Ancient Agora, making it a perfect mix of history and modern city life.
10th Stop - Cinapos Restaurant
The restaurant occupies a beautifully renovated neoclassical building dating back to 1845. The interior design retains the building's original stone walls and wooden beams, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. An olive tree stands at the center of the dining area, evoking the feel of a traditional village square. Cinapos offers a menu that celebrates traditional Greek cuisine with influences from Constantinople.
11th Stop - Syntagma Square
The Changing of the Guard in Athens is a must-see! The elite presidential guards perform a synchronized and ceremonial change every hour. For the full experience, the grand Changing of the Guard happens every Sunday at 11:00 AM, featuring a larger procession with a full military band. Whenever you are around the Syntagma Square, it’s always worth seeing the guards!
